Is Wingstop Halal?

Short answer Varies by country

Wingstop has no halal certification or official halal statement in the United States, so treat US branches as not certified. Wingstop Canada says it uses halal chicken [1]. UK and Singapore branch listings describe Wingstop as halal certified [3][4]. Check the certificate at your branch. If you're unsure, ask a scholar you trust.

United States Not certified Wingstop's annual report says US company-owned and franchised restaurants buy their chicken from suppliers Wingstop designates and approves, and it makes no halal claim. We found no halal statement or certification for US restaurants. [7]
United Kingdom Halal UK shopping-centre listings describe Wingstop branches as halal certified or offering halal options. We could not open a chain-wide UK statement, so confirm the certificate in store. [3][5]
Canada Halal Wingstop Canada's FAQ says it uses halal chicken. It does not name a certifier on the page we saw. [1]
Singapore Halal Mall listings say Wingstop outlets are halal-certified, with certification renewed yearly. MUIS is the only body that issues halal certificates in Singapore. [4][6]

Why Wingstop is halal in some countries but not in the US

Wingstop has more than 1,500 restaurants across the US, the UK, Canada, Singapore, the UAE and other markets [2]. At the end of 2025, 470 of them were outside the US, in 18 countries and US territories, all franchised [7]. Outside the US, the brand is often run by a master franchisee, and sourcing can differ by market. That is why the halal answer depends on the country.

In the United States, Wingstop has not published a halal policy, and we found no halal certification for the chain. Its latest annual report explains that US restaurants, including franchised ones, buy their wings, tenders and other chicken from suppliers that Wingstop designates and approves, and it says nothing about halal [7]. Without an official statement or a certifier listing, the honest status is not certified. If a US branch says it is halal, ask which supplier it uses and who certified it.

In Canada, Wingstop's own FAQ answers the halal question directly and says it uses halal chicken [1]. The page we saw does not name a certifier, so ask your branch which body certifies its chicken.

Wingstop in the UK and Singapore

UK. Wingstop UK is run by a separate franchise company and has grown quickly in recent years. Listings at UK shopping centres describe local branches as halal: one lists its Wingstop as halal certified [3], and another says halal options are available [5]. Many Muslim diners in the UK treat Wingstop as a halal option. However, we could not open a current chain-wide statement from Wingstop UK naming its certifier, so we can't confirm that every UK branch is covered. Ask to see the certificate, and check whether the chicken is stunned if that matters to you.

Singapore. Mall listings for Wingstop in Singapore say the outlets are halal-certified and note that the certificate is renewed every year [4]. In Singapore, only MUIS can issue halal certificates, and certified eating places must display the original certificate on site [6]. That makes it easy to check: look for the MUIS certificate at the counter.

How to check a Wingstop near you

Because Wingstop's halal status depends on the country and sometimes the branch, use a quick checklist:

  • Look for a certificate. A certified branch should show a current certificate with the certifier's name and an expiry date. In Singapore, look for the MUIS certificate [6].
  • Ask what is covered. Is it only the chicken, or the whole kitchen? A restaurant can buy halal chicken and still cook other items in shared fryers.
  • Ask about the supplier. Staff can usually tell you the brand of chicken. You can then check that brand with its certifier.
  • In the US, don't assume. There is no chain-wide halal program, so a halal claim at a US branch needs proof from that branch.

If staff can't show any paperwork, treat the branch as not certified.

Wings, sauces and shared fryers

Chicken is only part of the question. Wings are fried, then tossed in sauces or dry rubs. A halal-certified restaurant has its sauces and oils checked by the certifier, but a branch that only buys halal chicken may not. Ask whether the fryers are shared with any non-halal item.

The same applies to sides. Wingstop's menu varies by country, so a side that is fine in one market may be made differently in another. If an item matters to you, ask for the ingredient or allergen sheet at the branch.
