About HalalLookup
HalalLookup gives you a fast, sourced answer to “is it halal?”, whether you're standing at a counter, reading a candy label or planning food for Muslim friends.
What we do
We answer two everyday questions. First, is a restaurant chain, brand, ingredient or food halal? Second, where can you eat halal in your city? Every answer cites where it comes from, shows the date we last checked it, and splits the answer by country when it differs, because a chain can be halal in the UK and not in most of the US.
What we don't do
We are not a halal certification body, and we don't certify restaurants, products or companies. We report what brands and certifiers say. Where scholars hold different views, for example on shrimp, gelatin or alcohol in flavorings, we present the main positions neutrally and don't issue rulings. If you're unsure, ask a scholar you trust.
Independence
No brand or restaurant pays to be listed or to get a particular answer. If that ever changes, for example through clearly marked ads or featured listings, it won't affect what a page says about halal status.
Corrections
Halal status changes when suppliers or certifiers change. If you see something out of date, use the “Report an error” link on the page or contact us. We check every report against an official source before we change a page.
