Is Texas Roadhouse Halal?

Texas Roadhouse is a steakhouse chain based in Louisville, Kentucky, with hundreds of US restaurants ^[1]. Its annual report lists steaks, ribs, chicken, pork chops and pulled pork on the menu, and says most restaurants have a full bar with beer, liquor, wine and margaritas ^[5].

As of November 2026, Texas Roadhouse does not claim that any of its US meat is halal, and it names no halal certifier. HMS, a US halal certifier, says it has not inspected or certified Texas Roadhouse and cannot call it zabiha ^[4]. With no certificate and no official statement, the honest answer for the US is "not certified."

Three things matter here:

• The beef is not confirmed halal. A steak is only halal if the animal was slaughtered by Islamic rules. Texas Roadhouse gives no information on that.
• Pork is on the menu. The US menu includes ribs, pork chops and pulled pork ^[5], cooked in the same kitchens as other meat.
• Alcohol is served. Most restaurants have a full bar ^[5]. Some sauces or marinades may also use alcohol, so ask before you order.

Texas Roadhouse began its international growth in September 2011 with a restaurant in Dubai ^[1]. At the end of 2025 it had franchised restaurants in the UAE (5), Saudi Arabia (4), Kuwait (3), Qatar (1) and Bahrain (1) ^[5]. These are run by a franchise partner; the regional website points to the Alshaya group ^[3].

Restaurant listings for the Dubai Mall branch mark it as halal ^[2]. That fits the wider market, where restaurants serve halal meat as standard. Still, the regional website does not show a halal certificate or name a certifier ^[3]. If you want proof, ask the branch to show its certificate.

Supply chains differ by country. Don't assume that a dish you ate in Dubai is halal at a US branch, or the other way around.

Use these steps at any branch:

1. Ask if the meat is halal. In the US, expect the answer to be no. In the Gulf, ask who certifies it.
2. Ask to see the certificate. It should name the certifier and show a current date.
3. Ask about pork. Find out whether pork ribs or bacon are cooked on the same grill.
4. Ask about alcohol in sauces. Glazes, marinades and dressings can contain wine or beer.
5. Don't rely on word of mouth. A server saying "it's halal" is not the same as a certificate.

If you eat at a US branch, some diners choose seafood, salads or sides instead of meat. That is a personal choice, and you should still ask about shared grills and fryers.

Compare the halal status of other sit-down chains before you go:

• Is Outback halal?
• Is Fogo de Chao halal?
• Is Olive Garden halal?
• Is Applebee's halal?

In US cities with large Muslim communities, independent halal steakhouses are often the simplest choice. Look for a current certificate from a known certifier.
